Are You Being Trained?

By July 10, 2019 March 31st, 2020 2 Comments

God has a plan and a purpose for each of our lives.  Scripture says He sees our days before they ever were.  Right now we are in training for what lies ahead. We may not be able to see the future but we plan for it.  Let’s do the work now, receive the training now so as His plan unfolds, we will be ready to step in. Nobody just steps into ministry without some training. So often it’s only in hindsight we recognize we were being  trained, prepared for what is taking place now.

For instance before David faced Goliath, he had already been trained to kill a lion and a bear.  He already knew what God could do through him. He didn’t fight like the other men with swords or and a shield.  In fact when King Saul offered David his armor, David tried it on and took it off, declaring it didn’t fit. What David used was what he had, a sling and he grabbed 5 smooth stones out of the stream.

David was no match in size, he was smaller. David was no match as a soldier, he was inexperienced. But God had trained him to fight as he watched his father’s sheep. He had fought a lion and a bear while protecting the sheep. God had proved him and he proved God. David knew what God could do through him.  David didn’t say to Goliath, I come to you in the name of David with my mighty sling, but said, “…I come to you in the name of the Lord Almighty.” He might look young and inexperienced but nevertheless he was trained to be a giant slayer. He didn’t fight like the other men but he used what he was experienced with, a humble sling. A seemingly inferior weapon.

We are not suppose to look to others and try to imitate them whether in speech or actions. They may sound amazing, anointed but God has proved them. They are on their own plan besides if God wanted someone who sounded like them He would have used them.  He doesn’t, He wants someone who sounds like you. He’s asking you, calling you. He’s prepared you. Trained you. Step up. Step out.

I would love to hear how and what God is training you. You can comment below or email at [email protected]
