You Are Chosen

By S.W.I.M. Leadership

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light." (1 Peter 2:9 NIV)

You ever have one of those days where you see someone else doing something amazing, and you wonder, "Am I doing enough?" I’ve had those days. I’ve seen women organizing big community events, leading powerful ministries, and launching successful businesses. I’m cheering them on, but there’s this little voice inside me that sometimes whispers, “Is there something more I should be doing?”

I’ve been there. I’ve seen women leading dynamic ministries, speaking to crowds, and doing what seems like extraordinary things. I celebrate them, I really do, but sometimes I catch myself thinking, "Am I doing enough? Am I where I’m supposed to be?"

In 1 Peter 2:9, we’re reminded that we are chosen by God—each one of us. We are part of His royal priesthood, His holy nation, His special possession. Let that sink in for a moment. We’ve been chosen to declare His praises, to reflect His light in a world that so desperately needs it.

It doesn’t say you have to do something grand or be in the spotlight to be chosen. It doesn’t say you have to compare your calling to someone else’s. It simply says that you are chosen. Period.

So, what has God placed in your care? Maybe it’s encouraging a neighbor who’s going through a tough time. Maybe it’s serving behind the scenes in your church, reaching out to a friend who feels lonely, or preaching on Sunday services. Whatever it is, God chose you for that. He picked you because He knew you were the right one for the job.

So, the next time you catch yourself comparing your calling to someone else’s, remember this: You are God’s special possession. You’ve been called out of darkness to shine His light. Your role, no matter how it looks to others, is significant because God chose you for it.

When you start your day, ask God, "How can I reflect Your light today?" You might be surprised at the simple ways He leads you.

Remember, no assignment is too small when it’s from God. So, whatever He shows you, don’t compare, don’t hesitate—just say yes.

Let’s Pray

Lord, thank You for choosing me, for calling me Your own. Help me to walk confidently in the calling You’ve given me, no matter how it compares to others. Remind me that I am Yours, and that’s what truly matters. Let me shine Your light in the way You’ve chosen for me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
