Ministry

What If You Don’t Know What Your Ministry Is?

Often in scripture we will read a command like this one and it will tell us how we are to do something (complete faithfully the ministry) but it
doesn’t tell us “the what,” what our ministry is.

In the simplest terms our ministry is to know Him and to make Him
known to others, but that can looks different for each of us. Ministry ends up being a journey where we must rely on God to find our next right step. Finding our ministry is similar to Abraham, when God told him to leave what was familiar and go to a land God would show him.  It was in
following the leading of the Lord, God revealed His plan and His purpose for him.

Step by step, day by day God unfolds His plan. For some it could be like
when Jesus was at a wedding in Cana of Galilee and the mother of Jesus
told an unnamed servant in John 2:5, “Whatever He (Jesus) says to you,
do it.” The servant was available, in position, already serving, and in
simple obedience acted, God used him to minister His miracle.

Where to start? Look around you. The church, you may see many needs unanswered and then there’s your community and even your place of
work. See a need, fill the need.   Proverbs 18:16 says, “A man’s gift makes room for him.” So, ask the Lord, what gifts has the Lord blessed you
with? Where are you using those gifts? Where can you make yourself
available? Where would the Lord like to expand your ministry? Ask the Lord, “Who can I help today?”

I would love to hear what God has spoken to you, what is your ministry?
